About this property

Welcome to Crew's Quarters Boarding House

Crew's Quarters Boarding House is a guest house located at 198 Commercial St in the vibrant heart of Provincetown. Its simple, nautical-themed rooms feature shared bathrooms and preserve a historic charm with dark wood paneling and narrow stairways reminiscent of an old ship’s quarters. Guests often highlight the building’s character and thoughtful period details, though the lack of air conditioning and compact room sizes mean comfort preferences vary.

The property caters specifically to gay men seeking a laid-back and welcoming atmosphere. Facilities are basic, with free Wi-Fi and smoke-free spaces, but no breakfast, parking, or on-site dining options. Shared bathrooms are maintained to a high standard, and there is a comfortable common room with a bar, fireplace, and outdoor seating ideal for socializing and people-watching.

Set within a busy area filled with cafes and eateries, the guest house is conveniently close to MacMillan Pier and the local beach shuttle stop, making outdoor activities readily accessible. Nearby attractions such as the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum and the expansive Cape Cod National Seashore provide opportunities for sightseeing and nature walks.

Visitors who appreciate history, community connection, and an eclectic, rustic vibe tend to enjoy their stay here. However, those requiring modern conveniences or spacious accommodations might find the setting less suitable. Friendly and attentive hosts contribute to a personable experience, often enriching guests’ visits with conviviality and local insight.

Crew's Quarters excels at what it aims to provide: Perfect for the low-maintenance traveler with an appreciation for history, community, connection, and sultry 20th-century style. Love and thought are poured into every detail. The hosts are gracious, kind, and excellent conversationalists who make a hell of a cocktail. It's not a five-star hotel, nor does it claim to be one, and is probably not suitable for the traveler who expects the anticipatory service of the Ritz. As a historic building that remains true to its heritage, the rooms are small and the stairways narrow. The bathrooms are shared, and there is no air conditioning. But if you're willing to trade modern conveniences for an enchanting step back in time, into the pages of the gay pulp of the Kinsey era, you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I were recently here for a three-night stay and had a lovely experience. The place has recently been refurbished but maintains an eclectic/rustic vibe that was totally charming. The most important thing I can say is that “Crews Quarters” is the most apt name! The rooms are tiny, the stairs are narrow and steep, the floor is slightly slanted, everything is paneled in dark, heavy wood. You really feel like you’re below decks on some old 18th century galleon. For us this was perfect, but maybe not for everyone. The staff is helpful and friendly, and kept the shared bathroom (one per floor) immaculate. There’s a comfortable common room with fireplace, bar and air conditioning, and a great outdoor space in front for people-watching. The location is perfect, on Commercial Street, convenient to everything P-Town has to offer, and where you can watch the parade of interesting folks pass by day and night.

The location is excellent and our Master XL room was very nice on the third floor close to the bathroom. The shared bathrooms were immaculate. The historic building is beautifully appointed and comfortable. Stuart, the owner was a gracious host and friendly bartender. We look forward to coming back.

We loved staying here while we visited Provincetown for the first time! Short walk from the Ferry drop off and in the middle of all the shopping, restaurants, and bars! Loved the Happy Hour bar service and their drinks! I've recommended it to all my friends to stay while in Provincetown. Stewart, David, and Andrew were great hosts!

Crew's was everything I wanted and more. The atmosphere and lodging were perfect for my first visit to Ptown. I think I got 10 hours of sleep here my first night. The little details like vintage photos on the wall make this place so special. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. I'll definitely be back soon!

If you could imagine a time that never quite existed, yet seemed so familiar..With the art and ambience, the building tells you a quiet story of men living freely, and invites you to do the same. Old word taste, new world freedom, it's an experience that you could only make sense of in Provincetown. Update: all these years later and the place is still incredible! It's gone through recent renovations with additional rooms and lounge area space, as well as an accessible staircase.

Crew’s Quarters offers great accommodations for couples and solo travelers alike. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are cozy and the decor throughout the space is outstanding. My room did get a little warm, but not unbearable. The drinks at the bar are fantastic! I recommend getting some drinks and enjoying them from the second floor outdoor lounge.

Absolutely fabulous for me and my partner. If you are a bit more opinionated about bathroom setup and whatnot, please do check the previous reviews and know what you are signing up for. For us, it was perfect, but I could see where others might be outside their comfort zone. Overall, such an awesome experience and in the heart of PTown.
